Aldersgate’s Foster Care Program provides safe and secure family placement for children who aren’t able to live with their birth parents because of adjudicated abuse or neglect. Our Foster Care Program provides vital ongoing support and counseling that these children and their families require. Aldersgate strives to reunite each child with his or her birth family. When this isn’t possible, the program successfully places foster care children with relatives or non-related adoptive families. Under certain circumstances, foster care families can adopt foster children outright.
Aldersgate’s staff takes a comprehensive, hands-on approach working with each and every child, as well as with all biological and foster families, making the time to go beyond typical casework responsibilities and interactions.
Caseworkers are involved with all aspects of the lives of foster care children--including those of their birth parents and their foster families; we address counseling, educational needs, physical and emotional health, peer relations, social development, visitation, and life skills issues.
Aldersgate utilizes a team approach. Foster care families and the children in the agency's care receive continuing support through frequent visits by staff and a 24-hour emergency hotline service.
Referrals for foster care come from Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties for children from birth through age 18. A tremendous need for local foster care parents continually grows — especially for those who can care for newborns, sibling groups, teenagers, children with disabilities, and those with special medical needs.
Since the 1970's, Aldersgate has successfully found placement for hundreds of children and teens in qualified foster care homes. Today, many families actively participate and more are recruited each month. Aldersgate continually seeks local, committed couples or individuals who are:
