Aldersgate has been a leading provider of affordable, high-quality counseling services for Montgomery County and the surrounding area for decades.
Some Aldersgate clients seek guidance with particular issues while others approach counseling as a primary means towards greater self-awareness and personal growth. Friends, family members, school guidance counselors, area physicians, and former clients also often refer people to our counseling program.
Counseling at Aldersgate continues to be among the finest and most respected community service offerings in the area, with a strong emphasis on working with children, adolescents, and families, in addition to individuals and couples.
Our services include: individual, family, and marital counseling, focusing on developing stronger self-esteem, improving communication and conflict resolution skills, and maximizing positive peer and family relationships. Topics and issues regularly addressed include: life transitions and loss, family relationship issues, various parenting difficulties, anger management, play therapy needs, school-related behavioral situations, and substance abuse issues.
Our individualized care begins with your initial phone call to our Intake Coordinator. Incoming clients are carefully matched to the most appropriate staff therapist to best meet their particular needs.
In the first few meetings with a therapist, a thorough assessment is completed and appropriate treatment options are discussed.
Counseling fees are reasonable – roughly half the cost of local, private-pay providers – and county subsidies are sometimes available (under certain circumstances).
Aldersgate offers every client compassionate, highly-skilled, and high-quality emotional counseling and substance abuse services in a culturally-affirming and growth-promoting environment. Individualized short-term intervention programs are often recommended by area district justices, schools, and youth aid panels as alternative sentencing for teenagers charged with underage drinking, illicit drug-use citations, shoplifting, or anger management concerns. The Montgomery County DUI Administration, Adult and Juvenile Probation offices also refer clients to Aldersgate for structured, individual drug and alcohol counseling and educational services.
Lastly, Services to Children in their Own Homes (SCOH), a specialized home-based counseling service, offers intensive family therapy and case management services to at-risk families who are referred by the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth.
Because of our deep-seated commitment to honoring cultural and human diversity, counseling at Aldersgate is offered to everyone regardless of age, sex, race, disability, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation.
