Serving the community through counseling, outreach, and education.
Supporting youth and their families with life-changing and life-enhancing programs.
Making a difference in people’s lives.
For almost 40 years, Aldersgate has been a trusted and highly regarded resource for families, schools, and the child welfare systems in Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties. With a staff of over 20 skilled and dedicated professionals, Aldersgate maintains that coveted reputation by providing the highest level of care and personal attention to every aspect of its work.
Aldersgate continues to “make a difference”:
¨ Counseling: 273-325 clients participate in counseling yearly at Aldersgate. Counseling issues included family, individual and marital therapy as well as substance abuse.
¨ Foster Care: Each month on average 7-16 foster care children are in foster care placement with Aldersgate. The Aldersgate foster care program has a reputation for providing quality services for foster care placements in Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties.
¨ Home-Based Services: Area families were provided intensive support in their homes to try to prevent the out-of-home placement of children at risk (SCOH) and to reduce acting out behaviors in school (SWEBS/CARE/FFSBS).
¨ Prevention: Over 7,000 community members received prevention, parenting, and personal enrichment programming. School services, consultation and prevention education were provided in Abington, Cheltenham, Upper Moreland, and Wissahickon school districts to almost 7250 students. Other community outreach efforts included an Aldersgate teen rap group held twice a week at LaMott Community Center in Cheltenham Township. Monthly, twenty to twenty-five minority youth took part in group discussions focused on peer relationships and decision-making skills.
¨ School-Based: Aldersgate counselors provide support services at area schools, offering students both individual and group support. Aldersgate school-based counselors worked closely with SAP/IST teams, faculty, and other staff members. This past year over 500 students in several school districts benefited from the program.
¨ Substance Abuse: On average 200 teens, 125-172 parents, and 100 DUI clients participated in Aldersgate’s substance abuse education classes and individual counseling.
These statistics reflect the hard work, expertise, energy, time and dedication of our staff, Board of Directors, Foster Care families and volunteers. Without these dedicated individuals, Aldersgate would not be able to accomplish our mission of promoting positive healthy relationships and healthy living. I am delighted to present Aldersgate’s Annual Report to you. This report provides an overview of Aldersgate’s unique approach to positively impacting both the community and the lives of the clients we work with. Thanks to all of you for allowing us to continue to “make a difference”.
