Willow Grove, PA: Aldersgate Youth Service Bureau (“Aldersgate”), a community social service agency established 35 years ago to assist children, individuals, and their families in Eastern Montgomery County, announced the launch of a new and improved website at www.aldersgateservices.org.
Aldersgate received a restricted “scholarship” grant from Capmark Finance Inc. to join NPower PA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping local charities overcome technology challenges and maximize computers to best achieve their social missions. Capmark’s grant allowed NPower PA to deliver Aldersgate with both a comprehensive plan and targeted efforts to improve its technology use.
NPower's Technology Scholarship Program matches the financial support an agency has received to supply technology needs. A Technology Scholarship provides a nonprofit organization with either 60 hours of NPower technology services, or 40 hours of NPower services plus a $2,500 hardware stipend, depending on the needs of the client. Technology Scholarships have transformative effects on recipient organizations because nonprofit staff receive better tools to achieve charitable goals.
Aldersgate chose to use Capmark's donation specifically to create a new website, logo, and improved graphic messages about its operations. Capmark’s donation was put toward 60 hours of web design, communications planning, and graphic design services. Ianncomm, a nonprofit-focused design firm, was chosen to perform the required work. Through branding exercises, communications exercises, and strategic planning, Ianncomm developed a new Aldersgate logo and the functional requirements for a new website. Ianncomm ultimately delivered Aldersgate its completed website.
Aldersgate’s new homepage offers: detailed program descriptors with related links for online users; its agency history; a donations page for online and conventional donations; its mission statement; a map and directions; newsletters, press releases, and feature articles written by Aldersgate staff; and lists of board and staff members, among many other new and exciting features.
Deborah Sapin-Feldstein, Aldersgate’s Executive Director, said, “We really believe a more focused Internet presence can provide everyone with a better understanding of how Aldersgate serves our community. We’re eager to spread our message, and the Internet provides us with a very powerful way to do that.”
