Willow Grove, PA: Aldersgate Youth Service Bureau (“Aldersgate”), a community social service agency established 35 years ago to assist children, individuals, and their families in Eastern Montgomery County, recently named four local residents to the executive committee of its board leadership. Agnes McLaughlin, Carl Molt, Frank Nobile, and Sharon Dennison are the new board president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary – respectively – elected in January, each serving one term for the calendar year.
Agnes McLaughlin, a board member of Aldersgate since October of 1991, had been acting secretary for 15 years before assuming leadership as the new board president. A resident of Blue Bell and mother of two, McLaughlin is a retired school nurse from the Cheltenham School District. She was also the district-wide coordinator for all school nurses during her career. McLaughlin first began her affiliation with Aldersgate having worked as a member of Cheltenham’s student assistance program (SAP). Holding a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villanova University and a master’s degree in nursing from St. Joseph’s University, McLaughlin had managed district-wide Red Cross blood drives twice each year. She is the past treasurer of the Montgomery County School Nurse Association and former chair of its scholarship committee. Formerly active in Stony Creek Elementary School’s PTO meetings, she volunteered as a grade school room mother, a library aide, and a member of the annual School Fair Committee. She also taught religious education classes at St. Helena's parish to students attending public schools. She is a charter member and past president of “Women Take Stock,” a local investment club specializing in women’s financial investment strategies.
Carl Molt, Hatboro resident and police detective with the Lower Moreland Township Police Department, has served Aldersgate as a board member since May of 2004. Molt has been a police detective for over 31 years, investigating all forms of major crime. He holds a Masters degree from St. Joseph’s University in public safety, a bachelors degree from Delaware Valley College in business administration, and an
associate’s degree from Montgomery County Community College in criminal justice. His other current business affiliations include: team leader for LMPD with the Montgomery County Drug Task Force, and serving as a police liaison on a Lower Moreland Youth Aid Panel. Molt’s other civic affiliations included participation in Upper Moreland High School’s Booster Club and their Senior Graduation Project.
Frank Nobile, father of two and a resident of Ambler, works as a registered representative of the John Hancock Financial Network and the Bala Financial Group, working with businesses and families to meet investment needs and manage insurance benefits. Nobile is a member of the MS Society 2005 Leadership Class and a member of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce, the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Valley Forge Human Resource Association, and the Montgomery County Network Connection. He holds an undergraduate degree in industrial management from Norwalk Community College (formerly Norwalk State Technical College).
Sharon Dennison, a Philadelphia resident and retired librarian, also serves on the board of the First Philadelphia Charter School for Literacy. She received her BA from Rosemont College and her MSLIS (Masters in Library & Information Sciences) from Drexel University’s School of Library and Information Services. During her 35-year tenure at the Free Library of Philadelphia, she was a supervisor of the Overdues Department; clerical supervisor in the Cataloging Department; an adult services specialist; and the full-time branch manager. Her other civic engagements currently include service as board treasurer of The Philadelphia Unemployment Project, as a reading group leader for Center In The Park, Germantown, and as the past secretary of Olney Neighbors Civic Association. A member of both the Pennsylvania and the American Library Associations, Dennison received the Free Library Of Philadelphia President’s Award for Distinguished Service - 1986, 1991, and 1994 – and also a Mayoral Citation for Distinguished Service – 2004.
Aldersgate Youth Service Bureau supports area residents’ mental health and emotional well being through the provision of individual, family, and marital counseling, foster care placement, drug and alcohol prevention education and programming in area schools and the community at-large, and community outreach services which target at-risk minority youth.
